The PD12C is the workhorse of the PD range and the most configurable unit Braden builds in this class. Four gear ratios from 21:1 to 59:1, seven motor displacements including a two-speed option, and four drum sizes. Unit weight runs anywhere from 375 to 1,030 lb depending on the build — a spread wide enough that mounting design has to wait until the configuration is settled.
At 12,000 lb and 160 fpm on layer 1, it covers the same capacity as a Gearmatic GM12A but in a power drum layout with freefall available, which the GM range doesn't offer.
Both freefall and controlled freefall are options. On a crane or drill rig where the load needs to run out under gravity, that's not a nice-to-have — specify it up front, since it isn't retrofittable.
