The GM18A steps up to 18,000 lb of rated line pull and, more usefully, offers the widest drum range in the series. The 04 drum holds 1,765 ft of 3/4" rope — over a quarter mile — which puts this unit in play for dredging and deep-water work where the GM12A runs out of barrel long before it runs out of pull.
The 8.0 CID motor and 38:1 gearing give it a faster line speed than the GM12A at every layer. In high speed reverse the reel-out runs 4.7× reel-in, which matters when you're paying crew to wait on gear coming back up.
Rope diameter options run from 3/8" all the way to 7/8", so the same unit covers a wide span of applications depending on how it's drummed and roped. Weight varies accordingly, from 765 lb on the 01 drum to 1,125 lb on the 04.
Stainless drum seal lands, sintered bronze brake discs, crowned planetary gears, sight glass and a 360° indexable breather vent — the same marine-duty construction as the rest of the series. We stock, install and service these — call with your application and we'll spec it.
Configuration
Available overwound (CCW) or underwound (CW), in equal speed or high speed reverse, with the 01, 03 or 04 drum. Tell us your rope diameter, required length and mounting orientation and we'll confirm the right build.
