The GM50A is the largest unit in the GM series: 50,000 lb rated line pull at a 108:1 reduction. It's a different class of machine from the rest of the range, and the numbers show it — 2,160 to 2,580 lb of winch, a 14" or 18" drum barrel, and rope options up to 1-1/4".
Line speed at layer 1 is 69 fpm in equal speed reverse, which is what 108:1 buys you. This is a heavy-lift unit, not a fast one. In high speed reverse the reel-out jumps to 324 fpm — 4.7× reel-in — so recovery is quick even though the working stroke is deliberate.
Three drum configurations are available, from 177 ft of 1-1/4" rope on the 01 up to 594 ft on the 32. Rope diameter runs from 9/16" through 1-1/4" depending on how the unit is specified.
