The GM12A is the compact end of the Gearmatic GM range — 12,000 lb of rated line pull in a unit that weighs around 525 lb and mounts on a standard pattern. It suits deck work on smaller commercial boats, utility hoisting, and anywhere you need real pulling capacity without the footprint of a 27 or a 35.

Sintered bronze brake discs keep braking smooth and shed heat well, including after a unit has sat through an off-season. The planetary gears are crowned, which runs quieter and lasts longer than straight-cut alternatives. Drum seal lands are stainless, so the seal interface survives salt exposure rather than pitting out.

An indexable breather vent lets the unit mount in any orientation through 360°, and a sight glass means checking oil is a look rather than a job. Both matter more than they sound when the winch is bolted into an awkward corner of a deck.

We stock, install and service these — call with your application and we'll spec it.

Configuration

Available overwound (CCW) or underwound (CW), in equal speed or high speed reverse, with the 01 or 05 drum. Tell us your rope diameter, required length and mounting orientation and we'll confirm the right build.
