At 27,000 lb rated line pull, the GM27A is where the GM series moves from deck winch to serious lifting equipment. The 05 drum carries 2,169 ft of 7/8" rope across thirteen layers, and the 12 CID motor pulls 143 fpm at layer 1 — quick for a unit at this capacity.
The 40:1 ratio is deliberately lower than the GM35A's 54:1, and that's the real difference between the two. The 27 trades some mechanical advantage for speed. If you're cycling often and the loads sit within range, the 27 moves more line per shift. If you're working near the limit, the 35 is the unit.
Weight runs 1,327 lb on the 02 drum to 2,009 lb on the 05, so mounting structure is worth checking before you order. We can advise on that.
In high speed reverse the reel-out runs 4.4× reel-in speed — use that within the unit's lifting capacity when controlling a load, not beyond it. We stock, install and service these — call with your application and we'll spec it.
Configuration
